What is Virtual Rail?

Virtual Rail is a multiplayer simulation network for train simulator drivers and signallers. Drivers run booked services in Train Sim World to a real working timetable on network time; signallers set the routes and clear the signals in SimSig, and drivers see them in their cab. With nobody signalling an area, the railway keeps running.

The most realistic train driving simulation available.

Drivers

Book a timetabled service, start in the cab at the platform and run it to time under live signalling.

  • Network Rail working timetable, Monday to Sunday
  • Other members' trains on the line with you
  • Lateness carried through the day
Requires Train Sim World 7 and the route for the line you drive: ECML Peterborough – Doncaster, or the West Coast Main Line from London Euston.

Signallers

Take a panel in a hosted SimSig session. The routes you set are the signals drivers see in their cab.

  • Ratings from trainee (SIG-1) to instructor
  • One signaller per panel, adjoining areas chained
  • With nobody on duty, the timetable keeps running
Requires your own licensed copy of SimSig for the area. Become a signaller →
